ESPERANCE BAY
The Esperance Bay left Bris
bane at 2.30 p.m. yesterday for
Java with 1416 Indonesians, of
whom 884 joined the ship here.
The Collector of Customs (Mr.
Wildy) yesterday praised the
sfficiency of transport organisa
tion at the embarkation.
'Supply and transport vehicles
af the military did an excellent
job.
'Officers and men of this sec
tion, also the officers and men
Df the Military, Provost Corps and
sivil police carried out a fine task
in moving the Indonesians and
their baggage,' Mr. Wildy said.
The Esperance Bay will travel
to Java as a merchant ship and
no members of the crew carry
arms.
An official of the Aberdeen and
Commonwealth Line said yester
day that there was never any
suggestion of arming the crew of
the ship. ? _
